Dr Natan Silver

Dr Natan Silver is a fellowship trained orthopaedic hand and wrist surgeon. He is experienced in adult and paediatric hand surgery and has a particular interest in trauma (fractures, dislocations, ligament, tendon and nerve injuries), arthritis, base of thumb disease, joint replacement, deformity correction, Dupuytren’s disease, lump/tumour excision, and minor hand surgery like carpal tunnel release and trigger finger surgery. He is one of the few surgeons in Israel experienced in wrist replacement surgery, having trained with some of the world’s premier joint replacement surgeons, including the designer of the most popular wrist implant. He also has experience of revision joint replacement in the hand and wrist.

After completing his medical training and working for 2 years in the United Kingdom Dr Silver made Aliyah with his family, initially working in emergency medicine and military medicine. Following his military service he embarked upon formal training in orthopaedic surgery in Shaare Zedek Medical Center, attaining completion of training in 2021 with distinction. He then enrolled in the Israeli hand surgery fellowship programme between 2021 and 2024, beginning his training in Shaare Zedek and then completing 2 prestigious international fellowships in Liverpool and Wrightington, both in the UK. Over the course of his training Dr Silver has been awarded several prizes including the highly competitive FESSH travelling fellowship and travel awards from the European (FESSH) and British (BSSH) hand surgery societies. He has travelled extensively, learning from some of the best renowned hand surgeons in the UK, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway and Italy.

Dr Silver is actively involved in clinical and basic science research with several ongoing projects in hand and wrist surgery and patient reported outcomes. He has several publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Silver has a special interest in medical education, helping to train medical students, orthopaedic residents and hand surgery fellows. He is currently responsible for the resident training programme in Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
